The Fronalpstock towers
above Stoos, a traffic-free, child-friendly mountain village set
at 1300 metres above sea level in the midst of Central
Switzerland’s stunning Alpine landscape. Stoos can be reached by
one of the world’s steepest funicular railways or by aerial
cableway. The summit of the Fronalpstock at 1922 m is reached by
aerial cableway or for the more energetic, by a wonderful
mountain hike. The reward is well worth the effort. The
360-degree panorama takes in far reaching views over ten lakes
and numerous picture-postcard peaks. The summit restaurant takes
pride in being the highest-altitude mountain restaurant in
Canton Schwyz, and seats 200 inside and an equal number on the
sun terrace. Stoos is an ideal winter resort, offering skiing,
snowboarding, sledging and airboarding as well as cross-country
skiing. Other winter options include ice skating and curling,
snowshoe trekking and winter walking. Summertime Stoos also
offers plenty of action with hiking, biking, Nordic walking,
summer tubing, wellness, an open-air Alpine swimming pool and
much more.
