Kleine Scheidegg, altitude 2061 metres, is the spectacular pass linking the famous valleys of Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald in Switzerland. Nestling directly beneath the snow-capped summits of the Eiger, Mönch & Jungfrau, Kleine Scheidegg buzzes with action. In summer, you'll meet Alpine herdsmen with their cattle, climbers preparing to test their mettle on the Eiger North Face and visitors from all corners of the globe. In winter it’s paradise for winter-sport fans, with a vast variety of pistes and facilities. And Kleine Scheidegg is also the starting point for some of the most stunning hikes in the region - in both summer and winter.
Kleine Scheidegg has long been one of Europe’s top holiday attractions, easily accessible by the Wengernalp Railway from Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen. And it’s at Kleine Scheidegg that the Jungfrau Railway begins its remarkable journey to the Jungfraujoch -Top of Europe. At 3454 metres, this is Europe’s highest-altitude railway station, in a world of eternal ice and snow which belongs to the Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn UNESCO World Heritage. |
