Kleine Scheidegg,
altitude 2061 metres, is the spectacular pass linking the famous
valleys of Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald in Switzerland.
Nestling directly beneath the snow-capped summits of the Eiger,
Mönch & Jungfrau, Kleine Scheidegg buzzes with action. In
summer, you'll meet Alpine herdsmen with their cattle, climbers
preparing to test their mettle on the Eiger North Face and
visitors from all corners of the globe. In winter it’s paradise
for winter-sport fans, with a vast variety of pistes and
facilities. And Kleine Scheidegg is also the starting point for
some of the most stunning hikes in the region - in both summer
and winter.
Kleine Scheidegg has long been one of Europe’s top holiday
attractions, easily accessible by the Wengernalp Railway from
Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen. And it’s at Kleine Scheidegg that
the Jungfrau Railway begins its remarkable journey to the
Jungfraujoch -Top of Europe. At 3454 metres, this is Europe’s
highest-altitude railway station, in a world of eternal ice and
snow which belongs to the Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn UNESCO
World Heritage.
