Mount Titlis, with a
height of 3,020 meters above sea level, is the home mountain of
Engelberg, the popular summer and winter holiday resort in the
high valley of the same name in Central Switzerland. Titlis is
reached by aerial cableway on the world’s first revolving cable
car, the ROTAIR, a 45-minute trip affording a spectacular 360°
panorama of lush valleys, crystal-clear mountain lakes and the
central Alps. The Titlis is the highest-altitude and largest ski
and snowboard area in the region and has a freestyle park, Ice
Flyer chairlift, glacier grotto and winter-walking trails. The
12-kilometre downhill run to Engelberg descends a height
difference of 2000 metres. Mount Titlis is truly a glacier
paradise, offering fabulous snow-fun in both summer and winter.
The area also has treats in store for hiking enthusiasts with
superb summer trails. Halfway up the Titlis, the Trübsee lake is
a very popular starting point for tours to several other idyllic
mountain lakes. Engelberg is located close to Lucerne and only
around 90 minutes by motorway from Bern, Zurich and Basel.
